Shameless Blatant Glorification of Japanese Invasion and Occupation by PAP

Yaccoob said the name Syonan wasn't used to glorify Japanese Invasion and Occupation. Does he really understand what Syonan means in the full context in the first place?

There is a slight mis-translation in lingo context. Most English translation puts it as "Light of the South" but this is not the wholesome context. In Chinese and Japanese context, "Light" means "Pride"... for example, if a person had won the Olympic Medal and he comes from a school, then the school will say "我校之光", simple English translation means "the light of my school" but in essence, in this context, it basically means he is "the pride of my school"! Look at it in the wholesome context, he has brought SHINE to our school.

Thus, Syonan is basically a term used by the Japan to mean This the the Glorious Pride of Japanese Empire! So how can Yaccoob comes to the conclusion that by using this name for the Memorial, he is not GLORIFYING the Japanese Invasion and Occupation?

Secondly, I get even more FUMED by the photo below:

It says "Syonan Gallery : War and its LEGACIES"

Now, WHOSE LEGACIES are we talking about here? Syonan, the Japanese Glorious Legacies? Atrocities like raping, torture, sufferings, massacred and killings... all these are "LEGACIES"? Isn't this glorifying the Japanese Glorious Victorious Invasion and Occupation?

How to Die for Our Contry?

When I was young, I was pretty dead serious in serving my country. I took my National Service very seriously and with every pride. I couldn't quite understand why some of my peers would "Keng" or skive, avoiding contributing their best.

But throughout the years, I realized the reasons. You will be "penalized" when you are too serious in serving NS. When you get yourself injured or hurt, the State won't really take care of you.

Thus throughout my years of reservist training, the only top priority in my mind is the safety of my man, nothing else matters more than their safe returns to their families, because I know the State will not take care of them if anything bad happened to them.

It is an irony. I have learned from history, the only way to ensure or motivate the soldiers to go all out and put in their best efforts in fighting and even willing to die for the State, is not only to make sure they will be well rewarded but also to give assurance that if anything happened to them, they or their families will be well taken care of.

But this is not how PAP government runs the conscripted army. Our boys are paid peanuts as ALLOWANCE when they are expected to give their best or even die for the country. But when they get hurt or die for their Singapore, the State will not take care of them or their families.

Core Values - Our Lack of it (II)

When I was traveling to visit a friend during the Chinese New Year period, someone called out to me, "Are you Goh Meng Seng?" I returned my greetings and thought that this was just another the usual meeting with a Singapore supporter.

But I was proven wrong. This meeting with Michael, proved to be different from others. At the very least, we spent about 20 to 30 minutes chatting on the sidewalk of the busy MRT station.

Michael told me he is an opposition supporter despite the fact that he is a civil servant. The sad thing is that he said he is preparing to migrate out of Singapore to Japan. This is not the first time I met a supporter who will tell me that they are migrating out of Singapore, to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, US etc. The last one I met before Michael was Jack at Cantonment Police Station when he was getting his certificate of good conduct from the police so to facilitate his migration!

Naturally, I asked Michael why would he and his family want to migrate to Japan? If all supporters like him were to migrate out, then who do we have left behind to give opposition their continuous support?

Michael explained that he is doing all these for his children. He has been to Japan and was  impressed by their education system. They teach "VALUES" to their students, not just subjects or "living skills" like how to deal with internet and the New Media.

I was stunned by his words. I thought there are no other Singaporeans like me who would talk about "VALUES" or the lack of it in our education system. In fact, from top down, Political Leaders to civil servants and commoners, wrong values were transmitted in various subliminal messaging through the political system and pop culture. One of the reasons why I decided to step into opposition politics was due to my rejection of PAP's vote buying exercise via using ASSET ENHANCEMENT HDB UPGRADING carrots. It is basically telling Singaporeans that your votes and soul could be sold or bought by such pork barrel politicking. I did not want my children to live under such system which cultivate such BAD VALUES. Thus, I decided that either I fight PAP to change this system or I shall resign myself to making more money and prepare myself to leave this place; for the sake of my future generations.

In fact, I have decided to let my daughter to study in Hong Kong instead of Singapore, purely because of my rejection of PAP's indoctrination of BAD values through the education system. The massive brain washing via distorted history books and slanted National Education which mixed PAP's propaganda into various messaging.

I do not see the day I could successfully eradicate the PAP's system of self interests and self preservation. But at least, I tried and am still trying.

And Michael is right, our education system has stopped cultivating our shared common morals and good values with regards to Morals, Equality, Fairness, Humanity, Social Justice, Social Responsibility and Democracy.  Even our National Pledge was treated just as an empty promises of the State and ruling party everyday; rightfully so because PAP has openly declared that this National Pledge is nothing and has no value at all but just a Highfalutin ideals which we should just ignore.

Our education system is more interested in Elitism, to filter out the "bright" Scholars with high IQ, never mind if he or she has any morals or core values to begin with, so that PAP could just put them into civil service and eventually into their party to serve their political monopoly.

Michael told me that many civil servants, high ranking civil servants, are looking into migration out of this place we call Singapore. I was surprised because no matter what, civil servants, especially those high ranking ones, were the ones who helped created the current system! Why are they migrating out of their own creation?

They are just here to work and meet their KPIs which may or may not give the best results that the society needs but definitely serve their own promotions and bonuses. They saw the flaws of the system in many instances but the Top down management would just discourage any dissidence towards the Elite Scholars. Thus, when their time is up, they would just leave Singapore, for the sake of their children.

Michael also told me that the stifling academic environment will not provide the kind of First World education that Singaporeans deserved. He said that he has known various foreign lecturers employed by the local universities had their contracts or tenure shorten or discontinued just because they have made unflattering remarks on local politics, PAP and its policies. The lack of academic freedom would compromise the standards of learning dependent on critical thinking.

Our education system basically discourages critical thinking while promotes conformity or group thinking. This is why Michael felt very pessimistic about the future of his children if they were to remain here in Singapore.

My little conversation with Michael has to end as I was late for my visit. But this little conversation with Michael sets me thinking on the future of Singapore.

Education is the foundation of every Nation and it involves not merely economic importance but also the cultivation of our Nation's Soul. This Soul will determine how our society will look like, how our National Identity will be forged or disintegrate. Any political system's effectiveness will depend on this cultivation of the Nation's Soul, its cultural and social consensus based on the values it holds. But somehow, our Good Core Values are serious lacking while bad influences like political propaganda have been on the rise.

Without the Freedom to Think with strong cultivation of Core Values, there will only be Mind Slaves left in the country.

Core Values - Our Lack of it (I)

I know many people have been sharing that video about "Majulah" and it seems to suggest that Singaporeans do not have National Identity because we forgotten about the word "Majulah".

This is a FALSE Premise; a FALSE proposition which made use of your initial feelings to guide or misguide you into thinking of something which is of little relevance.

Our National Identity has been weaken due to many reasons; the massive influx of foreigners which benefited from the stability and good environment and infrastructure which we and our forefathers have built and protected by going through our National Service but in the end, we felt SHORT CHANGED in every aspects of life Singapore by the PAP government, from Education, Healthcare, Politics of False promise of Democracy, CPF to jobs. These are the fundamental reasons why we felt cheated and thus, reluctant to pledge our lives to defend and Die for our Nation.

The video is an attempt to give false proposition to distract the fundamental flaws of PAP's Rule, whereby they just treated the National Pledge which we so used to say every morning before going to class as some "Highfalutin" ideas which they are not interested in achieving for us as a Nation!

What we seriously lack as "CORE VALUES" in our National Identity is not "Majulah" but the disillusioned National Pledge which we used to believe in!

This is the reason why I have started the very FIRST National Pledge reciting in GE2006 last WP rally at Serangoon Stadium, to remind everyone the false promises of building of a Democratic Society for us and our future generations, the false promises of bringing Equality and Prosperity to ALL of us, Singaporeans!

Let us not be led astray by this "Majulah" nonsense but remember each and every word of our National Pledge:

We, the citizens of Singapore,
pledge ourselves as one united people,
regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity
and progress for our nation.

The Tears of a Patriot

Singapore’s National Day is always remembered by the teary Proclamation of Independence and Declaration of Separation from Malaysia by the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Fifty years from that teary declaration of Independence, I have seen another Teary expression of patriotism on the morning of our 50th National Day. I saw my comrade and Chairman of our party, in tears uncontrollably when he walked out of Chua Chu Kang MRT station. I asked him whether something terrible has happened? He said this is not about him. After recomposing himself, he said that when he took the MRT, it was packed with people whom he doesn’t understand. There were people speaking loudly in foreign language. There was hardly any Singaporean around him. He felt terrible that this is not a country which he used to know. Thus, he was shedding tears for Singapore on this very National Day.

We started off 50 years ago to build a nation for a multi-ethnic population which aimed to create a strong National Pride and Identity. But 50 years later, we are crying for a country which we no longer recognize nor understand as One People.

We have served National Service with great pride and commitment to protect a country which we pledged to defend and die for. But in the end, we were subtly discriminated by employers who preferred to employ cheaper foreign labour substitutes because our yearly National Service call ups have become our liability instead of strength for the Nation.

On this 50th National Day, we ponder on what makes us a Nation, A United People.

This is also the first National Day we are celebrating without Lee Kuan Yew around. We also ponder on whether the current system of governance is sustainable without Mr Lee Kuan Yew around. Can this system of high concentration of powers in the hands of the few ruling elites survive well beyond Lee Kuan Yew’s death? Can Singapore prosper for another 50 or 100 years with minimum corruptions in post-LKY era?

We in PPP believe that there must be a drastic change in the system of governance whereby the separation of powers should be institutionalized in order for Singapore to ensure that we could avoid the massive abuse of power and corruptions which have destroyed many states and empires in history.

While every patriotic Singaporean is celebrating our National Day today, we also hope that we as a Nation and people could reflect on what we really want our future to look like. Do we really want 6.9 million or even 10 million population whereby some or most of us will live in underground towns? Do we really want to continue with a system of governance that allows high concentration of power? Do we want to continue with the strategy of GDP growth at all cost?

These are just some solemn points which we hope Singaporeans will ponder and reflect while we celebrate our 50th National Day.

非排外而是捍衛新加坡主權和法治　（修）

謹貴報於 2014年4月26日刊登的文章＜＜星民排外白熱化 菲使館示警 菲人擬商場賀國慶 遭網上圍攻＞＞， 作為反對菲律賓人於公共場所慶祝獨立日的一份子，我必須澄清文章中的一些繆誤。

新加坡自英國人開墾到獨立建國以來，一直是個移民社會，國民對新移民的包容性強，也無必要排外。菲律賓人自１９８０年代起就到新加坡當家傭，三十多年來兩國人民的相處一直相安無事，可是摩擦卻在近幾年漸漸出現，這也許跟大量的菲律賓人到我國工作有關。

在新加坡政府大力提倡引入外來勞工的政策下，越來越多菲律賓人落戶我國，他們從事的工作不再限於家傭，還包括企業主管、設計師、會計員、護士、服務員等。他們的薪金水平一般較低，難免同時壓低了從事同樣工作的新加坡人薪金，甚至因而搶走了國人的工作。但最令人不安的問題又豈止「搶飯碗」而已？

在旅居新加坡的二十萬菲律賓人當中，有不少人近年開始滲透新加坡人的基層組織，並利用政府公款為菲律賓社群組織活動。部分的菲律賓人更在２０１１年大選時參與了支持執政黨的政治活動，這明顯違反了我國限制非公民參與政治活動的規定。

更令人不安的是，這些菲律賓人近年開始高調地在新加坡的公共場所慶祝該國的獨立日，他們的做法在以下三方面有違基本外交禮節規定之嫌：

１）主權的侵犯

２）國旗徽章的適當使用

３）違反公共秩序法、國旗徽章法和公共娛樂法等

也許因特殊的歷史政治因素，香港人對主權概念的意識不甚強烈。但是對於一個主權獨立國的新加坡來說，主權是國本，是需要新加坡公民以生命和汗水來維護的。新加坡男子在１６至１８歲時被徵召入伍，接受兩年軍訓（以往是兩年半），往後的十年裡每年得花四十天的時間回軍營受訓，不管你是生意人或受僱人士均沒有例外。有了這種捍衛國家的基本認知後，就不難理解為甚麼一些新加坡人會對外國人企圖冒犯我國主權的行為，會有如此強烈的反彈了。

就國際外交禮節慣例來說，多數國家的外交使節都避免在外國大肆高調的慶祝自己國家的國慶或獨立日（目前也只有菲律賓大使館會贊助國民在外國公開地慶祝獨立日），他們一般只會在酒店內或自己的大使館內邀請賓客到場慶祝，因為這種慶祝國家主權獨立的活動若在他國公開舉行，有可能引起敏感的聯想，甚至被誤解為含敵對意識。

舉例說，如果日本駐北京大使館要在天安門或王府井舉行日本建國紀念日，這對中國人民來講是否恰當？又或者旅局菲律賓的中國人若在馬尼拉慶祝十月一日國慶的話，那又會有何反響呢？ 就算是被視為世界強國的美國，也不會如此囂張不顧東道國人民的情感，而肆無忌憚的在七月四日於他國的公共場所高調慶祝獨立日，因為這將被視為踐踏他國主權的行徑！

如果在新加坡的菲律賓人只是舉辦一些文化日，如泰國人最近在我國舉辦潑水節活動一樣，新加坡很少人會反對。但他們舉行的卻是菲律賓獨立日的慶祝活動，事件性質已經「越線」，甚至有強烈踐踏新加坡主權之嫌。從他們的活動宣傳海報和佈景板的設計，便可對其粗暴無禮略知一二。

 

 

以上是旅居我國的菲律賓人在面簿上刊登的２０１１年慶祝海報，赫然發覺當中隱含了「侵略」的敵意。他們今年也沿用了新加坡的天際風景作為國慶宣傳海報的背景，還以「獨立與互相依存」為標題，試問菲國的獨立與新加坡有甚麼關係？

我不知道這些舉辦獨立日慶祝活動的菲律賓人是無知還是愚笨，但是在背後贊助他們的菲律賓駐新加坡大使館人員應不至於如此不知禮節和政治遲鈍吧？

我相信每個國家都對自己的主權有強烈的自豪，而國旗就是一個國家的主權象徵。这也就是為什麼每一次香港人為了維護中國釣魚島的主權時，都會嘗試拿著中國國旗到釣魚島去插旗來宣示主權。

在新加坡法律中，我們禁止任何人在沒有申請准證下在公共地方展示他國國旗。菲律賓組織ＰＩＤＣ近幾年在新加坡慶祝菲律賓獨立日時，都藐視了新加坡法律，在我國公共地方展示了菲律賓國旗。ＰＩＤＣ也在還沒有向新加坡警察申請公共集會准證和公共娛樂准證便宣傳今年的慶典，而他們過去幾年舉辦慶典前是否已經申請相關的準證也實在令人存疑。這一連串法規的問題，在向來執法嚴謹的新加坡來說是絕對不能忽視的。

至於新加坡報章所提的新加坡人在國外同樣有舉辦「新加坡日」，試圖說服國人應以同理心對待菲律賓人的國慶慶祝活動，很可惜這只是一些似是而非和企圖混淆視聽的論調。因為文章中沒有說明由新加坡政府在倫敦和澳洲等地舉辦的「新加坡日」並非國慶慶典，而是為了拉攏旅居國外的新加坡人回歸新加坡的活動，當中並不牽涉慶祝或宣示主權的成份，更遑論導致踐踏他國主權的解讀。

身為旅居香港的新加坡人，我明白如果要得到香港人的禮待就必須在言行舉止上處處嚴謹，不做一些令本地人反感的事，處事要有敏感度，更要顧及香港人的情感，反觀內地人的行為引發香港人的反感就是活生生的反面教材。因此我相信香港媒體應不難理解為甚麼新加坡人會對菲律賓人在我國公共場所高調舉辦國慶慶祝感到反感。

即使一小撮新加坡人對這次爭論的反應可能稍微過火，但我要強調我們提出的反對理據絕非無的放矢，更不是出於「排外」情緒。

新加坡人正面對人口過度膨脹導致公共設施嚴重不足的後果，这是政府施政失度所造成的，我們也只能責怪執政的人民行動黨。雖然大多數新加坡人都不排斥外國人，但某些旅居我國的外國人的不當言行舉止也的確令國人不滿，这令我想起演員黃秋生先生曾說的一番話：如果別人是因為你的膚色而對你不好，那就是歧視，但如果是你做了一些令人討厭的事而受辱罵，那就是活該！

I have sent the following protest letter to the Ambassador H.E. Minda Calaguian-Cruz to urge her to stop sponsoring PIDC's planned public celebration of Philippines Independence Day at Orchard Road.

Dear Excellency,

Re: Protest Against Embassy of the Philippines Sponsorship of PIDC Independence Day Celebration

1.          I am writing to you today to register my protest against your Embassy’s sponsorship and support of PIDC (Pilipino Independence Day Council Singapore) in organizing a PUBLIC celebration of your country’s Independence Day.

2.          As you should know, it is diplomatically sensitive to hold PUBLIC celebration of one’s country’s Independence Day or National Day in foreign land. PIDC’s past and present intention of organizing a Public Celebration event for Philippines Independence Day is a blatant breach of such diplomatic protocols.

3.          On top of that, PIDC has put up insensitive posters and banners in the past, right from 2011 till now for this public celebration. Singapore is not part of Philippines and I do not understand why Singapore’s skyline and iconic landmark have been used for propagating Philippines Independence Day. Moreover, PIDC has been basically rude, insensitive and displayed inherent aggressive attitude in the following poster and banner:

4.          I believe Singaporeans at large will find extremely offended by the design of such posters and backdrop which basically depicts a “conquer” of our land. They actually reminded me of the Japanese occupation era way back in World War II.

5.          On top of that, as you should know, it is an offence in Singapore to display your National flag or emblems representing your country in public places without special consent or permission from our minister. However, as you and your staffs have attended the previous events organized by PIDC, you should realize that they have contravened our law on National Emblems (Control of Display) ACT Chapter 196. Apart from the backdrop for 2011 shown above which has prominently displayed the Philippines flag, the following are the proofs of such illegal acts carried out in previous PIDC events:

6.          Singapore Police has also issued a public statement that PIDC has not applied for any of the necessary licenses or permits for their planned public event in celebration of Philippines Independence Day. It is quite puzzling to us why PIDC has publicized the event without applying for these permits. I wonder if they have applied for the necessary permits in events held in previous years!

 

7.          It is understandable that each country like yours would want to celebrate your Sovereignty and Independence Day with your people. However, it should be done as private functions either at your Embassy compound or in hotel as most countries’ diplomatic missions or embassies have been doing all these years.

8.          It would be inevitable for such public event aimed at celebrating your country’s Independence Day to end up contravening our law as it is only human nature for your people wanting to express their patriotism by displaying the Philippines flag. However, such act will be considered as a trespassing of our sovereignty and it would not do good to the friendship established between both countries and their people.

9.          I would urge Your Excellency to reconsider your sponsorship and support for PIDC to organize such public event to celebrate Philippines Independence Day publicly in Singapore. I would also urge Your Excellency to discourage and dissuade PIDC from organizing such event now and in future as it is offensive and it has hurt Singaporeans’ feelings.

10.      Last but not least, I also suspect that You Excellency’s support of PIDC has somewhat emboldened some of the Filipino businessman in Singapore. They have also openly displayed the Philippines Flag on their shop’s signage in public places. (Photo shown a Pinoy shop at Bedok Bus Interchange) Knowingly or unknowingly, they have committed a seizable offence in Singapore as stated in our National Emblems (Control of Display) Act Chapter 196. I hope that Your Excellency’s office could provide proper advisory to these Filipinos to observe the law of our land.

11.      I hope that Your Excellency and your Embassy would do the right thing and take necessary steps to ensure that the relationship between Singapore and Philippines people would not be marred by insensitive and law breaking acts by the minority of Filipinos in Singapore.

My Dear Prime Minister, Singapore doesn’t belong to Foreigners!

I was first shocked to read what was reported from an INDIAN online news website that our dear Prime Minister has uttered the following words:

"Singaporeans, new arrivals, people who are on permanent residence here, people who are on employment pass here, all participating in one big Singapore family... So that we feel that this is a place which is special, which belongs to all of us and where we all celebrate one another's festivals and happy events together."

I thought I have read wrongly or that the Indian news website has misquoted our dear Prime Minister but after checking with Channel News Asia news report, those were the exact words quoted as well.

From my understanding, our Dear Prime Minister is basically saying, “Hey! Foreigners like you, whether you are PRs or just working here under employment pass, we treat you as one big Singapore family and this land belongs to you as well and we would be glad to celebrate any festivals or happy events with you here!”

Well, I may not have scored A in my English or General Papers but I believe my comprehension is as close to what our Dear Prime Minister has said. In fact, a simple check with TOC FB or TRS or TRE sites, all those who have commented on this statement have the same understanding as I have. It could not possibly be that hundreds and thousands of Singaporeans have misunderstood what he has said.

My Dear Prime Minister, just a few days ago, you have chided Singaporeans for protesting against PIDC (Pilipino Independence Day Council) for organizing a PUBLIC celebration of their country’s Independence Day at Orchard road as “a disgrace to Singapore”. Your fellow minister has also insinuated those who are against PIDC as “bigots”. With all due respect, I was wondering why PAP minister and our very own Dear Prime Minister have such harsh words against our very own Singaporeans without really understanding what we are really protesting.

I should save the details on how PIDC has been truly disrespectful, breaking our law and such but even on the surface, you and your colleagues should know very well that a PUBLIC celebration of Philippines sovereignty aka Independence Day is against well established Diplomatic protocols. Such public event is not just a simple festival event nor cultural event but basically a demonstration and celebration of another country’s sovereignty on our land publicly. This is totally inappropriate and trespasses on our country’s sovereignty.

With all due respect, my Dear Prime Minister, you are an Army General and trained to protect, defend and die for our country’s sovereignty. You have allocated over 10 billion dollars EVERY YEAR in our National Budget to defense spending and male Singaporeans have spent years in basic military training and suffered disruptions to their work and businesses in order to attend ICT yearly, just to defend our home country. I really cannot understand why, as a Prime Minister, you would not only willingly allow foreigners to trespass our sovereignty but on top of that, chided our own patriotic brothers and sisters for trying to defend our country’s sovereignty and dignity!

I also cannot understand why you could just GIVE AWAY our country by telling foreigners working and staying on this land that this country also belongs to them willingly without anybody firing a single shot! Aren’t we wasting our billions of dollars in defense spending and the time, effort, sweat, blood and even lives of our Singaporeans in National Service when your government is so readily to allow foreigners trespass our sovereignty or even own our country?

I have lived to believe in a country call Singapore in which I belong to and for which I shall lay my life to defend it. For all my life up till now, as an army officer, I have given numerous pep talks and speeches to my fellow Singaporean comrades in arm, to provide them the very reason and need for their sacrifices in training to fight and defend this country. My Dear Prime Minister, unwittingly, your remark here has just destroyed years of efforts made by thousands and thousands of officers trying to convince their men the need for them to make the necessary sacrifices for this land which we call home. Do you really know what you have done? Or do you really know what you are saying?

Only the true blue Singaporeans who really belongs to this land, this country, this home, will put in the effort and even risk their lives to train and defend it. Will your foreigners who just happen to stay here, work here or study here risk their lives to defend this country if there is really a war? My Dear Prime Minister, the answer is no. They will be the first ones to flee this country at the very first sight of trouble and you jolly well know that! In fact, you should know that every year there are thousands of "second generation PRs" who have chosen to give up their PR status just to avoid National Service! Thus, My Dear Prime Minister, how could you ever utter those words, saying this land, this country also belong to the foreigners who are PRs or those with employment passes?

We are NOT Xenophobic, neither are we racist against foreigners who came to work or study in our country. We are not against foreigners staying here to celebrate their festivals or organize their cultural events. However, make no mistake about it, My Dear Prime Minister; Singaporeans will always be the only owners of this country. Celebration of foreign country’s National Day or Independence Day public in Singapore is deemed as a total disrespect to our sovereignty. Any foreigner who wants to belittle or trespass our sovereignty, disrespect and break our law or even try to claim that our country belongs to them, will have to be dealt with respectively. My Dear Prime Minister, you have enraged so many Singaporeans in one master stroke by making your unwarranted remarks. Just read all those comments on the internet sites! You have evoked so much anger from Singaporeans and congratulations, you have outdone all the past Prime Ministers of Singapore. In all my life, I have never heard or read any well respected political leaders in the world history, not even ancient Emperors and Kings, telling foreigners that their own land or country belongs to the foreigners!

My Dear Prime Minister, you have indeed lost the respect of so many Singaporeans and most important of all, the honour and moral authority to lead Singapore by such utterance. I would urge you to apologize for making such disgraceful remark, resign and step down from your office. That would be the only last dignified thing you can do for Singapore, our country, our home land.

Inappropriate Signage contravening Singapore Law

I have written in to Building and Control Authority of Singapore to make complain about the apparent inappropriate signage used by various shops or hawker stalls run by foreigners. 






BCA is the governing authority that is supposed to make sure that all signage put up by businesses are appropriate. I really wonder why they have approved such signage that has contravened our law.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have received various information about foreigners-run shops are displaying their respective countries' flags on their shopfront signage.
Such act contravenes our Singapore law under National Emblems (Control of Display) Act Chapter 196. This is stated specifically in the following link:

I believe BCA is in charge of signage licensing and I wonder why BCA has allowed such signage to be displayed. Will BCA take the necessary actions at these errant shops?

Please find attached the photographs of the shops that have contravened our law. The Pinoy shop is situated at Bedok Interchange and this is not the first time it has done so. The second photo is taken by Straits Times in one of its report on foreign food in our hawker centres.

I would like to know what is the position of BCA on such signage. Thank you.

Singaporean First Alliance

Over the years, we have heard about how the big influx of foreign workers or talents has created great impact on Singaporeans' life. We have also heard about how some Singaporeans cry out foul about those who protested or made comments about these foreign migrants as "Xenophobic" or simply "Extremists".

Some would even accuse anyone who raise the flag of Singaporean First as Xenophobic without really understanding what it means, neither will they reason it out in proper context.

We have seen how companies under the control of foreigners have started to build "racial enclave" within their own working environment. It is no surprise that we observe some banks or business entities being filled by employees with the same country origin. It has become so absurd that we start to see job advertisement put up in public space to have race or country origins or "Singapore PR", worse, to boast about their present working environment is dominated by their "own people" from the same country! And this actually happens right in our country!

When such things happened and reported on the social media, those usual suspects who cry foul about Singaporean First as "Xenophobic" have suddenly suffered strange disease of muteness. They have simply lost their voice and we have not heard from them calling these advertisement as "Xenophobic" or "Singaphobic"?  It is totally illogical for Singaporeans to be discriminated right in their own country! No citizens in the world, will become second class citizens and get discriminated by FOREIGNERS in their own countries. I guess these "human rights activists" who cry "Xenophobic" too often, should get their perspective right in the first place and stop taking that self righteous stance. There is nothing more righteous than good reasoning, fairness and justice.

In order to understand the whole problem of globalization, we must first understand the basics of ultra-capitalism. In the traditional teaching of "Free Market Principles", ultra-capitalism dictates that it would be BEST for the capitalist to have totally free mobility of labour and free mobility of capital funds so that they could maximize their profits wherever opportunities arise.

It would be easy to understand this ultra-capitalism concept by looking at the simple economic equation of production:

GDP = Labour Input + Capital Input+ Land + Technology + other factors of production (eg. raw materials)

It is not difficult to see that if we want GDP to grow indefinitely, we could just keep increasing labour and capital. This is exactly what PAP government is trying to do. They are trying to grow GDP at all cost by increasing labour, thus population and capital via luring MNCs.

The problem is, Singapore is just a little red dot with limited land space. We couldn't possibly increase the labour, thus population size indefinitely without resulting in more crowded living space for all Singaporeans. We should also be very mindful that we should not just increase GDP for the sake of GDP growth itself. The ultimate aim should be providing Singaporeans better jobs, better wages, better living standards and quality of life but definitely not higher inflation. But are we getting these in spite of higher GDP growth? What we are experiencing is that 80% of Singaporeans suffered from the cost of such ultra-capitalist method of growth, in terms of higher inflation and depressed wages, while only top 10 to 20% of Singaporeans benefited from such development. This is obviously represented by the ever increasing income disparity in Singapore.

I have renamed my FB Name to Goh Meng Seng SingaporeanFirst to indicate a new phase of my life in response to the various ridiculous happenings going on in Singapore under PAP rule, which allows us to be robbed of our dignity as a citizen, as well as subjecting ourselves to major discrimination by a huge foreign population allowed in by PAP. It will be a new era of Singaporean First Alliance for me from now on.

I have created a FB group Singaporean First Alliance and the following is my declaration of purpose:

As a small country, it is inevitable for Singapore and our citizens to feel the full impact of Globalization. It is inevitable for us to bring in more foreign workers, be it talents or otherwise, to supplement our workforce which will face contraction due to aging population caused by low fertility rate.

However, we must always remember that for whatever policies the ruling party of the day make, it must be solely for the benefits of our citizens. Thus, Singaporeans' interests must be the FIRST PRIORITY of ALL policies made by the government.

1) We are against the over-liberal FT policy which has compromised not only the wages of Singaporeans but also job opportunities for Singaporeans.

2) Foreign Labour from Third World developing countries can afford lower pay because of their lower cost and standards of living in their home countries but Singaporeans have to bear FULL impart of the higher cost of living for them and their families in Singapore. Cheap labour substitution by companies should be prevented by legislative and administration means by the Government.

3) We are just a tiny little island and any big influx of foreigners will definitely push up our land and property prices which will in turn inflate our rents and eventually prices for all goods and services. We are against mindless population targets set by the ruling party PAP which will eventually cause high inflation and push up our cost of living in Singapore.

4) We are against of the aggressive population target set by PAP because this will cause great strains on all public services starting from public transport, public housing to public healthcare.

5) We are against of the 6.9m population target because most of the foreign immigrants we are taking in are from Third World countries which have the very third world mentality and attitudes which are very different from ours. This will inevitably cause cultural frictions which may be a potential source of social tensions or even unrest if it is not managed properly.

6) There may be people who would accuse us of "Xenophobic" or even "Extremist" but we are not. We are just Nationalistic amidst the waves of Globalization and massive influx of foreign migrants, to defend the dignity, jobs and rights of our citizens, brothers and sisters of all races.

7) On the contrary, we view PAP's liberal FT policy as extremism and ultra-capitalist that only takes care of the interests of big MNCs, GLCs and business interests but disregard the welfare, well being and interests of our citizens. Such policy has only helped to suppress wages of citizens and compromise citizens' job security and well being, aggravating income distribution in spite of high GDP growth. Such strategy of Growth at ALL COST coupled with a weak labour law and union have made most Singaporeans suffer the high cost of growth while a minority of people, including foreign MNCs, GLCs and business owners, to enjoy the fruits of growth.

8) In fact, we are far from being Xenophobic as we are concerned and against the unethical modern slavery that has been practiced by some industry and businesses on low or unskilled workers from the Third World country. We are against of such modern slavery in Singapore which not only bring shame to our country but compromise wages of our Singaporeans in these fields as well.

9) We demand FAIR WAGE for ALL, including foreign workers with priority given to Singaporeans First. We understand that if we do not enforce FAIR WAGE for Foreign workers, our local Singaporean workers will be displaced by CHEAPER foreign labour.

10) As our national race strategy is to prevent the formation of "Racial Enclaves" in housing and such, we have observed that "Racial-National Enclaves" of foreign labour have formed in various sectors and industries. This has gone unchecked when the foreign migrants have started a quiet but deliberate effort to employ their own race or national origins for job openings when they have gained control of the hiring power within their organizations or companies. This is in effect an unhealthy development of Economic and Job colonialization by these foreign workers. This must be stopped. Any company in Singapore that do not employ at least 50% of Singaporeans will have little reasons to stay in Singapore as their presence will not benefit Singaporeans at all.

11) Last but not least, we may welcome these foreigners to work along us or even become Singapore citizens eventually one day, but we must maintain that these foreigner should realize that they are guests while we are the hosts. They should respect and obey not only our laws but also our cultural practices and way of life. Foreigner should integrate into our core, learn the ways of our multiculturalism harmony and tolerance instead of trying to impose their own values and way of life upon us. 

The self righteous Human Rights activists as well as PAP people will definitely try to throw labels like Xenophobic on such movement but I have only one simple defence, do they kick out their own family members so to let their friends stay in their house?

Singapore is the only land Singaporeans have to call home. It is only right for us to demand our government to take care of our own citizens and defend our rights and dignity against being treated and discriminated as second or third class residents on this land. These self righteous Human Rights activists should stop their own delusion but open their eyes to the real happenings around them, start to acknowledge truthfully the absurdity happening in Singapore that compromise our citizens' rights and interests.

If all fail, call me Xenophobic if you want; it is only right for me to fight for FAIR treatment and against mindless ultra-capitalist liberal FT policy.  If you can't see the abuse and trespasses of our citizens' rights and interests, so be it. I am just simply Nationalistic.
