Japan proves MM Lee WRONG!

MM Lee has claimed that no amount of Engineering could prevent floods. The Japanese has proven MM Lee WRONG.

The Japanese has started to build the G-Can, termed as "Underground Temple" to rid Tokyo of floods. This massive project which cost about S$4Billion was started in 1992 and completed in 2006. You can view more photos and read the introduction of G-Can here.

It has almost rid Tokyo of flooding due to typhoons and heavy rains. It is also believed that it could act as a massive underground bomb shelter.

You could read about the background information of this G-Can Underground Temple here.

Instead of letting GIC and Temasek Holdings losing billions of dollars in financial crisis, it will only cost us less than 10% of the total losses suffered by GIC and Temasek Holdings to engineer our way out of flooding. Tokyo is many times bigger than Singapore and I guess we should use less than the total amount of money needed for such project.

The following is a video in Japanese which show what will happen if such flood control measures like G-Can is not in place:

The video is part of a Japan government report warning that as many as 3,500 people could die in the event of such flooding. Water would also quickly flow into Tokyo’s subway network, putting as many as 97 stations out of commission.

Almost Rid Tokyo of floods? Almost? Hmmm.

Almost is better than LKY proclaiming impossible.
Trying is always superior to not having tried at all.
The numerous stents that keep LKY alive today is testimony to the human spirit of trying.

Which is why Japan is and will be light years ahead of Singapore in many aspects. A man like LKY with no sense of shame and honour would not last an hour in Japan either as a politician or CEO.
What the hell! even the Yakuza will spit on him. LOL

Goh Meng Seng is right about Tokyo being many times bigger with many times a larger population and about the cost being affordable.

ps: Thanks for pointing it out to your readers!

Yes, they have not eradicate floods totally in Tokyo just yet. According to some sources, there are still 7 places in Tokyo prone to flood.

We must understand that Tokyo is many times bigger than Singapore. It has reduced flooding significantly. If you want to know what will happen if such measures are not in place, watch the video in the following site:

Strangely, Goh,
you will never hear a Japanese high ranking official say that earthquake, flood and natural disaster in Japan is the act and will of God, only a World-Class clown, like ours, will have the audacity to say such thing and become laughing stock of the world.

When everything is okay, the PAP credit to themselves, but when disaster strike, they simply blame it on God and other beings.... Simply amazing shameful clowns we have here ...

Wow, they even did a simulation and considered what will happen if their underground subway got flooded and manage to somehow come up with a way to prevent it from happening. Typical Japanese culture of being detailed (komakai) at work here.

As for our gahmen, they could only sit back and wait for disaster to happen before rolling their 20 sided die to come up with a lame excuse.

I guess the mentality of these ministers is to wait for mishap before acting. This is like the TSR for the SAF.

It is a well known fact that the TSR has been written with the blood of true blue Singaporeans, serving their national duty. When some fatal accidents happened, then they get serious and start to work out seriously the correct safe procedure. When accidents have not occurred, these people just sit in the officers mess and drink their heart out.

Such is the mentality of our ministers, wait for something serious to happen then they will act. And sadly, we are the chips in their gambling board.

Should totally retort back at LKY with "Who's the quitter now?"
