Open Letter to Halimah

Open Letter to Halimah

Dear Madam Halimah,

At this very moment when I pen this letter to you, I still have the opportunity to address you as Madam Halimah instead of Madam Kelong President Halimah and I hope NOT to have that unfortunate opportunity to address you as such.

There is absolutely No Glory nor Dignity for you to become our First Lady President under the current circumstances. Your eventual "acceptance" of such farce arrangement of "Reserved Presidency", apparently meant for you, by submitting your nomination papers tomorrow, will be seen as an dishonorable act which will undermine the Presidency even before you begin your tour of duty.

Most important of all, your nomination and eventual acceptance of this Presidency now will cause more hurt and damage to the very Malay community which you claim to represent and lead. The implicit humiliation and hurt suffered by the Malay community will never recover fully due to the disgraceful ways of political manipulation by the power that creates unfavorable inferences upon the Malay community throughout the process.

You have said that you want to be the unifying figure for ALL Singaporeans but ironically, if you accept the "reserved appointment" of Presidency under such circumstances, you will not gain any substantial respect from any Singaporeans from any race. Your role of unification of Singaporeans would ironically be a figure head that every Singaporean stand in unity to disrespect or even despised!

The damage to our foundation of Core Values based on Meritocracy is just too great to quantify. This is one of the biggest damage your acceptance of such reserved appointment would do to our nation.

I would urge you to reconsider on submitting your nomination papers on 13 Sep 2017 because such move would only bring damaging consequences to everyone, to the whole Nation because it would be seen as the ultimate sophistry of rigging a simple electoral progress that would bring shame and disgrace to our Nation. A President-to-be who would put the whole Nation to shame and anger, is definitely not a good start for your six-years term which would be void of any legitimacy in the eyes of Singaporeans and the whole world at large.

I would urge you NOT to submit your nomination papers tomorrow so to trigger the mechanism to open up the Presidential Elections to contest by ALL qualified individuals from all races. Then you should contest in a fair and open elections to exemplify the values of meritocracy we hold so dearly for the success of this Nation.

Respect, dignity and legitimacy are earned, not Reserved in appointment. You will do yourself no justice as well as harm and damage to your Malay community as well as the Nation at large if you do not really understand this simple value.

Regrettably,
Goh Meng Seng

Goh Meng Seng, I think you are getting a bit emotional lah, although I empathise with your open letter to President for sure Halimah.

My sincere advice to you. Don't let emotions rule you, especially in your present state as politician, simply because it will not get you anywhere.

Make a determine effort to strengthen PPP instead, to at least confident of winning seats like the WP, in the next election.

By the way, with WP MPs being sued for $33M, I am afraid they may not even make it in the next election to contest, let alone win.

So this is the best chance for PPP to step up to the task and fill the possible political void left by the WP.

And I am writing this to appeal to and spur you on to achieve it. So go for it, please.

To allow ourselves to think of the days, the weeks, the months or years stretching ahead of us would to have been precipitate destruction to our lives.
Goalpost shifting is the norm. Like the saying goes when we were young, we were afraid of the dark. Now we are afraid of daylight. Daylights of being control and wrapped up like a dumpling. His merry-men.

Somewhere, the best possible unity for different races is to be encouraged from schools since a young age. It is not something one can be forced into multi -racism . We can first start with combining Nanyang and Yusof Ishak Schools and one can bet the uproar from the parents from Nanyang. So we cannot pretend that we are living as a multiracial peacefully, because it is only on the outside surface. In diversity every race has the good and bad people and if you one look closely at the recent death of the Indian boxer, one can't help but notice at the wake it was mostly their race. Therefor the special-selected race only president, they may lose votes from a small portion of the Chinese community, they gain the whole of the minority communities. Do we think not that they did not do their sums. Guess what? That part where most were illiterate and had depended on Mr.LKY for guidance is no longer relevant. Today we have men and women who can and are able to think for themselves. So when they came out with policies, nobody bothered to listen or read anymore. When one don't have the respect from the people, there are only servicing their own lips. And that is what is happening today.

A simple concept that if one is healthy and happy life get excited. It would be a massive

injustice if we all have the world class trappings but have the weight (almost every family

has got one or more )of money, health or relationship problems on our shoulders. Which do we

fancy? It goes hand in hand without saying when we have beautiful people, we have a beautiful

country? What makes a country ? People . People and People.

And our Prime Mister is beautiful. Inside and out.

Parents who are precise and specific in choosing schools and friends for their children when they are young
will find their child going to face it heavy as they will not be able to choose their colleagues and chores when they enter the workforce.

When you don't feel the emotional connection with them our outlook is they don't exist in our lives.

President? What president? All we see the loud SCARF.

Mrs PM ? What Mrs PM? All we see the differ colour pants. While we dress comfort we wish to see dress for right occasions and be First Lady.

US First Lady is over dressed while Singapore under dressed. Does not match our glory city.

NON-PREJUDICE:

While I cannot claim for others, my observation through the years that one of the person who can honestly have a relationship and speak everyone's language would be Straughan Pauline. There was no pretence and one do not have to get to know her ,you can sense and smell her passion for what she does and speaks . And its just something about her genuinely.

Another 2 persons I would like to bring in is Swee Say and Bee Wah.
