Response to Mah Bow Tan

I am very disappointed with Mr. Mah Bow Tan's "rebuttal" on the Housing Issues.

First of all, he has chosen to do so at the very last rally while refusing to take up the challenge of having a Live TV Debate. I could understand why because his so call rebuttals cannot hold water at all.

First of all, we are not saying that Singaporeans cannot use their CPF money to buy HDB flats. We are just saying with a 30 year mortgage, there will be little money left for retirement! It seems that Mr. Mah Bow Tan either chooses to side step this problem or deliberately mislead voters about our manifesto.

Secondly, he claims that our flats sold at Cost Plus will have to be sold at the same amount and all units will look the same. This is the most uncreative way of thinking and rebuttals. We could still build very different flats with different costings but yet, selling at Cost Plus. Yes, the sales price will be different but still, it is Cost Price system.

Thirdly, he still insists that such flats cannot increase in value. I do not understand how he come to that conclusion since the resale market will still be there.

I am totally disappointed with such rebuttals as I was expecting something much better. Anyway, it is up for Voters of Tampines to decide.

You are disappointed with Mah. But that's ok; there are other PAP MPs. Eg. I understand you have a very high regard for Humble Emperor Yeo, whom you said has great humility. Humility?!?!?! Where were you in 1994?

SM Goh: "I was expecting, to be frank, slightly better result."

Mr Goh M Seng must read the above at Mr Brown.Com

Goh Meng Seng too respectful of his opponent and fails to see the arrogance of emperor yeo. The latter can be as cocky as his mentors.

With regard to Emperor Yeo,I have friends who are cabin crew and had served Emperor Yeo and his family on the plane and the feedback I got from them was that he does not have any eye contact with the crew who served him and does not appear friendly unlike when he is infront of the camera.I believe Emperor Yeo is pretentious and deserved to be voted out.

To solve the problem of high prices of new HDB flats

The government should:

1) With immediate effect, cut the prices for all new HDB flats by 5% and:

rebate 4% to buyers who had purchased the flats within 1 year
rebate 3% to buyers who had purchased the flats within 2 years
rebate 2% to buyers who had purchased the flats within 3 years
rebate 1% to buyers who had purchased the flats within 4 years

2)for the next 5 years (2011 to 2016)
peg the increase of prices for new HDB flats at 3% lower than the increase of average worker wage.

For example : if the increase of average worker wage is 5% for that year then the increase of prices for new HDB flats should be 2% for that year. If the increase of average worker wage is 2% for that year then the prices for new HDB flats should be decreased by 1% for that year.

With 1) & 2), we can achieve a “relative increase” of 20% between the average worker wage and the prices for new HDB flats by 2016(within 5 years).
